“An engineer is not just a technician but also an artist; creating, designing, and bringing to life ideas that can change the world. They possess the ability to turn dreams into reality and solve problems with innovation and precision.”
Dear First-Year Engineering Students,
Welcome to the Department of First Year Engineering! As you embark on this exciting journey, I am thrilled to extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to each one of you.Entering the field of engineering marks the beginning of an adventure filled with innovation, discovery, and challenges that will shape your future. Our department is committed to providing you with the highest quality education, equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in this dynamic profession.
It is my privilege to inform you that the first-year curriculum is in accordance with the guidelines of NEP 2020.The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, bringing transformative changes to our engineering curriculum. The policy promotes a holistic and multidisciplinary approach, integrating arts, humanities, and social sciences with engineering courses to develop well-rounded graduates. It emphasizes research-driven education, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among our students. We have adopted modern educational technologies to enhance learning experiences and ensure proficiency with contemporary tools and techniques. Additionally, we have strengthened our industry collaborations, providing students with practical experiences through internships and real-world problem-solving opportunities. These initiatives aim to produce engineers who are not only technically skilled but also creative, adaptive, and socially responsible, prepared to meet the challenges of the future. These reforms are designed to produce engineers who are not only technically skilled but also creative, adaptive, and socially responsible, ready to tackle the challenges of the future.
The First Year Engineering Department plays a vital role in building a strong foundation of fundamental requirements of engineering education. Along with teaching basic sciences, humanities and engineering science courses we endeavour to inculcate health consciousness, ethical values and sense of social responsibilities among the students.
The total intake of First Year is 600 and there is a provision of TFWS and Jammu and Kashmir quota for meritorious students. The admissions are from all the districts of the Maharashtra state and also from the states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana and Karnataka which displays the trust of society towards our institute. Students of all programs are nurtured with fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience of basic sciences such as Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, engineering science subjects like Basic Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Basic Electrical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, etc. along with humanities to build a solid foundation. The department is facilitated with well-equipped laboratories and infra structure. Our department fully supports and provides moral, ethical and technical support for the overall development of the students.Beside the traditional classroom pedagogy method, novel learning practices like the Infosys Springboard, Moodle Platform, Guest Lecture series, Virtual Laboratory Practices, seminars, and quizzes are employed to facilitate effective learning. 700+ videos are created by our faculty and available on YouTube channel of the institute. So, students can learn anytime, anywhere. This enables us to go over the course objectives with stipulated program objectives for each and every student.
The Department’s programs and activities are designed to produce engineers who can cater the needs of society. For multifaceted development of the students we inspire them to participate in various co-curricular & extra-curricular activities. The co-curricular activities such as Smart India Hackathon, Toycathon, industrial visit, guest lecturers & technical competitions boost the technical knowledge of the students. Also the various extra-curricular activities such as Induction Program art exhibition, sport events, debate competition, cultural days and competitions, etc helps in personality development of the students. Our students have won prizes in various state and national level technical and sports competitions. The efforts are also taken to develop communication skills, employability skills and universal human values. The mentoring scheme adds a dimension of personalization to the entire knowledge-acquisition process. Remedial and Makeup classes which are carried out after regular college hours help the slow learners to catch up with difficult topics and turn their weaknesses to strengths. We also conduct sessions for good performers to improve their grades further and give them a motivational boost. We are reaping the benefits of these efforts in the tradition of good academic results in the university examination.
Our motivated efforts are dedicated to empower students with knowledge, expertise and ethical values and shape them as future ready engineers who can cater the needs of society.
Once again, welcome to our engineering family. I look forward to witnessing your growth and achievements over the coming years
